Established in 1970 in the heart of Mysore, the college has long been a premier institution of higher learning, offering quality education to all sections of society, especially the weaker and deprived. Its vision is realised through a 20-year strategic plan, broken down into five-year perspective plans, semester-wise academic plans, and department and teacher-level lesson plans, all anchored in well-defined course and program outcomes. Reaccredited by NAAC with an A grade (CGPA 3.07), the college has been autonomous since 2005. It offers undergraduate programmes across B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. BBA and BCA, and post graduate programmes across MA(Economics), MCom and MSc (Chemistry) draws students from across the country. The college is recognized as Research Centre which enables the aspirants to undertake research in Chemistry, Commerce, English, and History. Autonomy has enabled progressive pedagogy and vibrant, updated syllabi, including effective implementation of NEP, while degree recognition remains the same as for non-autonomous colleges.
The campus is equipped with well-furnished laboratories, spacious smart classrooms, multimedia facilities, and a well-stocked library, all set within a landscaped environment that is conducive to learning. College encourages students for physical activities with Multi Gym, Indoor Stadium and ground. The college provides an on-campus hostel with spacious rooms and hygienic food, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and secure living environment for students. College has NSS, NCC, Ranger and Rovers, and Youth Red Cross Units which enables the students to be disciplined, involve in group activities, and team building spirit. As a result, the college’s graduates regularly gain admission to postgraduate centres at the University of Mysore and elsewhere, with strong academic records.
